Molecules to Manufacturing
The Molecules to Manufacturing Lab, led by Dustin Gilmer, in the Material Science and Engineering department at the University of Tennessee and UT Space Institute has a unique focus on the chemistry and chemical induced changes that occur during material processing. We collaborate with industry and national laboratories across the country and have a strong relationship with Oak Ridge National Laboratories Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF) where several group members perform their research under the supervision of world-renowned scientist. We explore new materials and manufacturing paradigms using tools like automated synthesis and additive manufacturing to expand our current knowledge and what is possible.
